GTA3 and VC were just about perfect.
They just needed one thing ; Multiplayer.
It is a shame Rockstar did not add a MP 
feature to this game because this type of game truly asks for it.
Some enthousiastic people thought about this the same way and created a Multiplayer mod themselves. Impressive !

The development team is a bunch of guys from all over the world ; USA/UK/Canadian/Dutch and Belgium.
The idea of a multiplayer addon for GTA came by one dutch GTA fan. IJSvogel ;)
The fact he did not sit around was a good thing.
Although this mod needs some improvements, they are on the right course, and the talent is present to create something awesome.
We could not get an official reaction from Rockstar, but we are sure they watch MTA closely.
In the current build of MTA there are no gamemodes and for now it still is kill or be killed.
In a later stage gamemodes will be added but for now it is just pure simple Deathmatch.
You can play in a team, because you have 5 characters to choose from when you begin the game.
Cops,robbers,Mexicans,Crusaders,Racers,Sailors. Every character has his sworn enemies. Depending on what character you choose you get 
better or worse weapons.
Cops are the only ones with Armor and Mexicans got high tech weapons.
There is a possibility to play with 32 players max. to fool around.
The gameplay was optimised in order to save bandwidth. (No pedestrians/traffic) just like Midtown 
madness and Midnight Club 2 Multiplayer.
When you first start MTA it looks like a deserted land, but once you have some opponents
you forget this and only like the fact that you got the space to move around.

Players can be a driver or a passenger what makes the action extra intense, and increases team-spirit.
Too bad though MTA 0.2 has no walking animation, what makes the opponents look like they are gliding over the ground in stead of walking.
It also was never very clear when someone is hit or dies.
These glitches will be undoubtfully fixed in the next version 0.3
Until then we can recommend one thing ; Install the mod and play this online or over a network.
You won't regret it !
